The weekly spotlight was an initiative to promote articles that went on sale on a weekly basis. Every weekly illustration contained all the article on sale in a showcase through storytelling type of manner.
The style of illustration later translated onto catalogues and other promotional material.
The swinging chandelier was a weekly promo announcement. It proved to be a simple and effective promotional tool.
The spotlights besides depicting the furniture and other products on sale also had a recurring cast of characters serving as its protagonists. After a couple of weeks it turned into a comic strip of sorts.
GIR Fair Season No. 5
GIR Fair season was a series of animations depicting the life cycle of furniture, from conception and manufacture to ordering, shipment and delivery. It was also a showcase of GIRs ethical practices when it comes to lumber.
This and the weekly spotlight were one of my first introductions with 2D animation.
